Obituary

READFIELD - Lawrence "Larco" Clifford Cushing ll, beloved father, grandfather, brother and son, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on March 14, 2022, at Heritage Rehabilitation and Living Center in Winthrop, with his family by his side. Larry was born in Franklin, NH on August 3, 1949 to Lawrence and Gladys (Downing) Cushing. His family moved to Utah for a short time before returning to the east coast and settling in Readfield. Larry graduated from Kents Hill School in 1969 and the following year he married Nancy (Poulin) and they eventually settled in Readfield to raise their family. Larry was a fixture in Readfield for most of his life. Many will remember his insatiable desire to collect priceless treasuries (aka usable items), his ability to know exactly when to show up for fresh coffee and his beloved dog Paco, always by his side. During his younger years, he enjoyed downhill skiing, water skiing, snowmobiling and diving in the lakes. Larry was an innovative and resourceful man, who could handle any challenge. He was also an accomplished mechanic, welder and heavy equipment operator. Naturally, this led him to start his own business called Larco's Construction. Larry's work can still be seen in many Readfield homes today. During that time, he also served on Readfield's board of selectmen and really enjoyed working for his community. Larry enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, giving them a hand with their projects and helping with whatever home improvement projects came up. Larry was predeceased by his brother, Roger "Roddy" Cushing and both parents. He is survived by his children, Melissa Dicranian, Larry Cushing lll, Katherine Cushing and Julia Morrissette; brother Patrick Cushing; sisters Muriel Cushing, Cynthia Cushing and Stacy Shaw; and grandchildren Kansas, Lauren, Lawrence and Anna. He will be missed by many loving in-laws, nephews, nieces and friends. He will forever be missed and continue to live on in our memories and love. The family is grateful for the support and compassionate care provided by the staff at The Heritage Living Center and by Beacon Hospice. There will be graveside committal prayers at the Readfield Corner Cemetery on the Church Rd at 10:30 a.m. followed by a gathering at the Kents Hill Ski Lodge on route 41/Chimney Rd in Kents Hill from11:30 a.m -1:30 p.m. Please join us to share some of your favorite memories, stories and remember a wonderful person who will be greatly missed.
