Obituary

AUGUSTA- Lee Thompson Ware, Jr., 91, passed away on December 03, 2024, at his home in Augusta with his loving wife at his side. Lee was born in Livermore Falls on January 05, 1933 to the late Lee Thomson, Sr. and the late Valeria (Soper) Ware. Lee served in the US Army as a Sharpshooter/Military Police Officer from 1953-1955 in Fort Hood, Texas. Lee graduated from Cony High School. Lee and Elsie met in the city of Augusta and they were married in October of 1963 at Green Street United Methodist Church. He worked in sales for most of his career. He also worked as a Veteran's Counselor for the State of Maine as a second career. He really enjoyed both careers, but he especially enjoyed his time working with Veterans and thought of it as his calling and he felt as it was his way of giving back. Lee's sense of humor, his ability to talk with anyone about any topic and his friendly disposition made him a great friend to many. Lee deeply enjoyed his hobby of magic and loved performing his magic shows locally for both children and adults. He performed for many different charities and community organizations in his free time over the years under his magician's name of Prince Ho-Ko. He also enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He loved to meet his longtime friends for breakfast after retiring and enjoyed their banter and conversations. Lee is survived by his wife Elsie of 61 years, as well as his son Michael, his daughter-in-law April, and his daughter Harriet. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Bessie, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lithgow Public Library in Augusta, Maine. Lee's memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 28 at 1pm, with a reception to follow. The service and reception will be held in the chapel at South Parish Congregational Church, 9 Church Street, Augusta, Maine. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be held in the springtime at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Augusta. Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Care, One Church Street, Augusta, Maine. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home website, www.khrfuneralhomes.com
