Windsor - Lena A. Gardner, 89, of Hunts Meadow Road, died Wednesday April 19, 2006 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta. She was born in Milbridge on July 13, 1916 the daughter of Harold and Lena (Pinkham) Brown. She was raised in Bar Harbor by her mother and step father Forrest E. Dow. Lena attended Bar Harbor schools. For over 50 years, she owned and operated a boarding room house on Grove Street in Augusta. She particularly enjoyed being with her family and playing Yahtzee. She also enjoyed going to the coast for lobster. Lena attended Penny Memorial United Baptist Church in Augusta. She was predeceased by her husband Henry J. Gardner and a son Paul Gardner, both in 1974; also a sister Thelma A. Adams in 2000. She is survived by a son Judd Gardner of Augusta and West Palm Beach, FL; a nephew Forrest A. Perkins and his wife Bonnie of Monmouth; nieces Joyce M. Lupien and her husband Tom of Waldoboro, Sue A. Bell and her husband Robert of Windsor, Dale E. Littlefield and her husband James of Augusta and Vicki L. Adams of South China; also close friends Beth Brann and Dennis Brann. Visiting will be held Sunday April 23, from 10am to 1:00pm at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, One Church St., Augusta, where a funeral service will follow the visiting hours at 1:00. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association of Maine, 163 Lancasater St. Suite 160B, Portland 04101.
