MANCHESTER ? Linda C. Freeman, 53, left us peacefully at her home on Friday, June 7, 2002, after a long battle with cancer. Family and loved ones were by her side. The daughter of Edward W. and Rachel (Wing) Chick, Linda was born in Lewiston, Dec. 23, 1948. She was a 1967 graduate of Monmouth Academy, where she was secretary of her class and graduated with high honors. Linda spent her early career as a stay-at-home wife raising three grateful sons. Her last and most enduring job was with the town of Manchester, where she held the position of administrative assistant. She loved her experience there and enjoyed seeing and helping the people in town. Linda's greatest gift was giving. Everyone always came before her. She took great pleasure in nurturing and protecting others, and her proudest moments were those with her four grandchildren, whom she spoiled endlessly with her generosity, time and love. Most of all, Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will live in their hearts forever. She was predeceased by her brother, Timothy Chick. Linda is survived by her father, Edward, of Monmouth, and her mother, Rachel, of Wales; her loving husband of 34 years, Gerald P. Freeman Sr. of Manchester; her three sons and four grandchildren, Gerald P. Freeman Jr., his wife, Mary, and children, Chelsea and Jordan, all of Wayne, Scott H. Freeman and his fiancee, Sharalyn M. Whitten, of Hallowell, and Daniel E. Freeman his fiancee, Darcey Leeman, and children, Miranda and Cameryn, all of Augusta; her three sisters, Sheila McDonald and her husband, Blaine, of Wales, Debbie Bouchard and her husband, Paul, of Lewiston, and Judy Longchamp and her husband, Jim, also of Lewiston; her four brothers, Elliot Chick and his wife, Jane, of Wisconsin, Stephen Chick of West Gardiner, Randy Chick and his wife, Tammy, of Monmouth, and Jeffrey Chick of East Winthrop; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends. A celebration of Linda's life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Victory Baptist Church, U.S. Route 202, Winthrop. A reception for friends and family will follow at Gerry Freeman Jr.'s home in Wayne. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jennie Bennett Breast Cancer Center, MOB, CMMC, 300 Main St., Lewiston ME 04240.
