Loraine H. Thurston of Hallowell, ME passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, at the age of 88. Loraine was born July 23, 1936, in Augusta, ME, the daughter of Eddie D. and Ruth Tyler Hall. She attended Mt. Vernon schools and graduated valedictorian from Kents Hill School in 1954. She also attended the University of Maine Augusta. She married Glenn L. Thurston of Rome on October 5, 1956, in Mt. Vernon. She worked for various US Govt. agencies, GSA, Agriculture, Interior and Commerce. She retired as Field Representative for US Dept. of Commerce, EDA. She also held a Maine Real Estate Broker license, retiring in 1987. She was a volunteer cook at the Bread of Life Kitchen in Augusta, ME one day/week for many years. She was a member of AARP, Nat'l Assoc. of Retired Fed. Employees and was Chapter Sec. for many years. She was predeceased by her husband Glenn L. Thurston, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Glenn, Jr. of Topsham and his wife, Linda. Shawn of Mt. Vernon and his wife, Janice. Grandchildren, Ryan Thurston of Topsham (Nancy-Grace), Tracy Thurston of Topsham (Michael) and Matthew Zeh of Mt. Vernon and his wife, Sally. And one great-grandchild Alice Zeh. At our mother's request, there will be no visitation or funeral services. There will be a Celebration of Life in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kennebec Valley Humane Society, 168 Leighton Road, Augusta, ME 04330.
