READFIELD - Louise Mae Sylvester, 92, of Readfield went to be with her Lord Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation, following a short illness. She was born in Mount Vernon on May 25, 1913, the daughter of Freeman and Josephine (Magnant) Smith. She had been a resident of Readfield since 1943. Louise was an avid gardener and always loved working out in her yard. She also took many walks in the woods to locate her husband where he was working and tell him that lunch was ready. She was especially proud of her findings in the fields, whether it was four- and five-leaf clovers or violets. Most of all, she was a loving wife and mother. Louise was predeceased by her husband, Arthur L. Sylvester; a son, Richard Sylvester; a brother, Raymond Smith; and sisters Myra Benham and Alice Wadsworth. She is survived by five daughters, Arlene Charles, of Fryeburg, Dorothy Withee and her husband, George, of Enfield, Conn., Carolyn Mott and her husband, Russell, of Readfield, Evelyn Kittredge and her husband, Raymond, of Ocala, Fla., and Shirley Giacullo and her husband, John, of Readfield; two brothers, Walter Smith of Mount Vernon and Freeman Smith of Vassalboro; three sisters, Dorothy Allen of Newburyport, Mass., Annie Spaulding of Rockville, Conn., and Pearle Preston of Goffstown, N.H.; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, with the Rev. Clayton Alward officiating. Relatives and friends may visit from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in East Readfield Cemetery.
