MOUNT VERNON ?Lucy E. Carl, 62, of Plains Road, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at her home. She was born in Augusta, Oct. 5, 1939, the daughter of Merle and Camilla (Coffin) Pinkham. Lucy attended Kents Hill School, where she played basketball. She had worked as a selector at Progressive Distributors in Winthrop for more than 12 years and enjoyed playing bingo and going to Foxwoods Casino. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Robert E. Carl of Mount Vernon; four sons, Russell E. Carl of Mount Vernon, Robert E. Carl and his wife Lisa of Watertown, N.Y., Randall E. Carl and his wife Christine of Mount Vernon, and Rodney E. Carl of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Rhonda Cartlidge and her husband Andy of Belgrade, and Gayle Stratton and her husband Hal of Belgrade; two brothers, Carlton Pinkham and his wife Shirley of Fayette, and Robert Pinkham and his wife Jane of Monmouth; two sisters, Doris Neale of Manchester, N.H., and Carol Bigham; 11 grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. There will be no visiting hours. A graveside memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Readfield Corner Cemetery, Church Road, Readfield, with the Rev. John Dunn, pastor of Dunns Corner Baptist Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Main St. Suite 300, Topsham 04086.
