AUGUSTA ? Mabel Thornton, 83, formerly of Winthrop, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, Gray Birch Drive, Augusta. She was born in Berlin N.H., on Feb. 13, 1918, the daughter of Fran?ois and Amtilla Roy. Mabel had worked for many years at Lipman Poultry in Augusta. She was predeceased by her husband, William Thornton, in 1966; also a daughter, Maryann Loon; a brother, Sylvio Roy; and three sisters, Ida Bolduc, Lucille Pease and Evelyn Gagne. She is survived by two grandaughters, Lisa Adams and her husband, Wayne, of Winthrop, and Caroline Ridley and her husband, Larry, of Winthrop; three great-grandchildren, Kristin Adams, Jason Ridley and Felicia Ridley; also several nieces and nephews. Visiting will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, where an 11 a.m. funeral service will follow the visitation.
