MOUNT VERNON ?Magdalena 'Leni' S. Hinterhauser, 85, died unexpectedly at her home Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002. She was born in Semlin-Franzda, Yugoslavia, Oct. 15, 1916, the daughter of Joseph and Maria Schumacher. She married Peter Hinterhauser on Oct. 27, 1935, and they had two sons, Mathias and Hermann. They moved to the United States in 1956 and resided in Norwalk, Conn., until moving to Mount Vernon in 1978. Leni loved to cook original German recipes. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter, in 1985. She is survived by her sons, Mathias Hinterhauser and his wife, Betty, of Mount Vernon and Hermann Hinterhauser and his wife, Joan, of Florida; four grandchildren, Carolyn, Debbie, Peter and Heidi; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Kaleb. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stevens Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
