WINTHROP - Magdalena C. 'Maggie' Norris, 89, of Route 133 died Friday, May 30, 2008, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta. She was born in France on Dec. 25, 1918, the daughter of Germain and Petra (Kruger) Audressen. Although she was born in France, Maggie was raised in the Black Forest region of Germany. She was a nun and, later, a midwife, working in a hospital where she met William J. Norris Jr. They were married on Oct. 24, 1958, in Mannheim, Kafertal, Germany. Maggie was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Randolph and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary, Alfred Maxwell American Legion Post 40, Winthrop. She also was a former member of the Order of Eagles in Augusta. Maggie volunteered her time at the veterans' hospital at Togus and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and watching old Western movies. She was predeceased by her husband, William, on Dec. 5, 1989. She is survived by her close friends, Connie and Arthur Hensel, Annette Moody and Jackie Crocker, all of Winthrop; also several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. There will be no visiting hours. A committal service will be held at noon on Wednesday, June 4, in the chapel at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.
