Augusta - Marguerite E. ?Nana? Bean, 80, of the Leighton Road, Died Thursday, February 5, 2009 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta. She was born in Pittston on July 29, 1928 the daughter of Everett J. and Susan M. (Dunton) Chapman. Marguerite graduated from Cony High School in 1947. She had worked for Central Maine Power, the State of Maine, Hudson Pulp and Paper, and Keyes Fiber. She enjoyed going to the ocean, golfing, birds, gardening, and cooking for her family. Marguerite was a lifetime member of Queen Esther Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother Carlton Stevens. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Clarence F. Bean of Augusta; a son James Bean of Augusta, and a daughter Sandra Race and her husband Kenneth of Beavercreek, OH.; also her grandchildren Sharilee Richards and her husband Sam of Gardiner, Tiffany Durgin and her husband Daniel of Sidney, James Bean Jr. and his companion Erica Turgeon of Sidney, Amber Bean of Berkeley, CA., Melissa Bean and Justin Bean, both of Augusta, Erin Vanderwall and her husband Adam of New York City, NY., and Thomas Race and his wife Jennifer of Dayton, OH.; her brothers Robert Chapman of Augusta and Merrill Stevens of Sidney, and a sister Janice Cummings of Sidney; great grandsons Aaron and Joshua Richards, Nicholas and Jared Alexander, and soon to be Daniel Durgin, Jr. as well as many special nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nursing staff on A1 at MaineGeneral Medical Center for their kind and compassionate care. Visiting will be held Sunday, February 8 from 2-4 pm at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta, where a celebration of Marguerite?s life will take place Monday at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, celebration of Marguerite?s life will continue at Penney Memorial United Baptist Church, 35 Grove St., Augusta. Burial will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Maine Leukemia Foundation, 321 Wilson Pond Road, North Monmouth, ME. 04265. www.khrfuneralhomes.com
