Marjorie Marcotte, 79, of Augusta, Maine, died on July 19.

She was born in Augusta, Maine, to Matthieu and Margaret Gorneau, attended grammar school in Chelsea, then Erskine Academy and graduated from Cony High School in 1964. She then enlisted in the United States Army, and received an honorable discharge.

Marge worked for the State of Maine in various departments including the Department of Human Services, Maine Retirement System, Human Services, and retired as the Assistant Administrative Director of the Public Utilities Commission. After retirement she traveled within the United States and to Europe. She was a master at sudoku and scrabble.

She married the love of her life, James Benson, in 1990. She is survived by her husband, daughter Michele, step-son Charles and Sandy Benson and step-daughter Carrie and Mike Merrow. She had eight grandchildren: Zoe, Noah, Noam, Matthew, Taylor, Tessa, Mickey, and Megan, as well as two great-grandchildren, Aspen and Bennett.

Services will be held on Thursday, August 13th at 11am at Blue Star Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
