WINTHROP -- Marjorie Maxim, 100, died Sunday morning at Augusta Rehabilitation Center after a long and well-lived life. Marjorie was born May 27, 1913, in Winthrop, the daughter of John C. and Lottie (Webb) Houseworth. She graduated from Winthrop High School in 1931 and Farmington Normal School in 1933. Marjorie married Harold Maxim, of Winthrop, on Sept. 27, 1933. She was a homemaker, raising her two children and later worked at Maxim's Supply Company alongside her husband in Winthrop. Marjorie enjoyed cooking and playing cards. She also enjoyed many wonderful memories of trips to camp, in the early years with couples and later with her women friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Maxim; her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Anita Maxim; and her son-in-law, Kenneth Gilley. She is survived by her daughter, Sally Gilley, of Winthrop; four grandchildren, Kevin Gilley, of Alexander, Eric Maxim, of Durham, Tresa Johnston, of Tremont, and Kristi Maxim, of Rome; five great-grandchildren Alyson Marschall, Madelyn Tracy, Tyler Maxim, Stella Maxim and Corinna Johnston. A graveside celebration of Marjorie's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Glenside Cemetery, Winthrop, followed immediately by a luncheon at Sully's.
