AUGUSTA - It is with deep sadness the family of Mary L. Tilas announces her peaceful passing on April 16, 2025. Born 2/21/1945 in Portland, ME, living most of her life in Beverly MA, she retired to Rangeley ME and wintered in Vero Beach Fl. Mary was a woman of many hats. In her prime, she was employed with Caldor and insurance finance businesses, a lifetime member of the Beverly Elks lodge 1309, and always had time for reading, knitting, & quilting. Mary's love for her family was only rivalled by her love for her two cats Smokey & Cougar. Mary is survived by her sons, Nick (Lucinda) and Matthew Tilas, granddaughters Nichole, Katelynn, Melissa and Maddison; grandsons Christopher and Maddox, and cousins Amber & Linda and families. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Lianna Averill and Teddy Sweetser. She was preceded in death by her husband John N. Tilas, and her parents Elliot & June Plummer.
