BELGRADE LAKES ? Naurine K. Lord, 85, of Point Road, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Woodlands of Hallowell Assisted Living Center, Alzheimer?s Unit, on Tuesday, September 22, 2009. She was born on January 5, 1924 in York, Maine, the daughter of Lauren Frank and Ethel (Foster) Kelley. Naurine was a 1942 graduate of Belgrade High School. She was employed by the State of Maine in the Research Department until her retirement in 1982. Naurine enjoyed volunteering as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, taught Sunday school at the Old South Church, and was a founding member of the KVM Club, a charitable organization, where she served in many office chairs in the club. She enjoyed sewing, rug hooking, tole painting, crafts, her flower garden, and her family. She had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Stanley A. Lord, her son David F. Lord and his wife, Cheryl of Brandon, FL, and her daughter Debra (Dee) L. Cooke and her husband, Carl of Belgrade, grandson?s Jason Cooke and Chris Cooke, and step-grandson, Jeremy Arden. A Celebration of Naurine?s life will take place on Saturday, September 26th at 3pm at the Union Church on Route 27 in Belgrade Lakes Village. The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Woodlands of Hallowell Assisted Living, Alzheimer?s Center and Hospice of Gardner for the excellent care Naurine and her family received. Those who wish, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Maine Children?s Home for Little Wanderers, 93 Silver Street, Waterville, Maine, 04901.
