Obituary

AUGUSTA - Norma Boynton Wheeler, 78, beloved wife, Mom, Nanie, sister and aunt, passed away Oct. 18, 2004, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Unit, in Waterville after a brief and sudden illness. She was born on April 28, 1926, in Washington, the daughter of Goodwin Earl and Ruth (Overlock) Boynton. She attended the country school in Washington and graduated from Union High School in 1944. She worked at Central Maine Power Co. in her younger years and later on in the school lunch program at Hussey Elementary School. A loyal Red Sox fan, she enjoyed gardening, shopping with her sister and spending time with her grandchildren. A lifelong caregiver, she was a devoted Mom and Nanie. She will be deeply missed. Her family was, and forever will be, so blessed by her love. She was predeceased by a son, Gregory Wheeler; and a brother, Rodney Boynton. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Leon W. Wheeler of Augusta; her three children, Cynthia Marshall and her husband, Gene, of Newmarket, N.H., Douglas Wheeler and his wife, Donna, of Windsor, and Rebecca Wheeler and her husband, Dean Worden, of Southwest Harbor. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Jessica Dumont, Sarah and Amy Marshall, Joshua Worden and MacKenzie Wheeler; her two sisters, Eleanor Garside of Augusta and Lois Smith of York; also many nieces and nephews. There will be no visiting at this time. A celebration of Norma's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Wheeler home at 3 Stanley St., Augusta. Burial will occur at a later date in Wall Cemetery, Augusta. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta 04330.
