Norman "Garrett" Reynolds, 54, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 6th.
Garrett was born in Taunton, Massachusetts on February 19, 1970 to Laurie (Hulse) Reynolds. He spent his childhood between his home in Taunton with his grandparents, June and Albert Nepini, and his mother's residence in Maine with his sisters Love (Hoard) Fitch and Charity Hoard. Garrett adored his mother, Laurie, and was a proud self-proclaimed "Momma's Boy".
In 1989 Garret graduated from Waterville Senior High School. He almost dropped out, since his mom had dropped out as well, but she told him that she would finish school if he did. They both graduated the same year. He went on to work for Marden's for a number of years and then became a flagger in the central Maine area for several more years. When he wasn't flagging, Garrett would be working at various garages throughout the years. Garrett referred to himself as a "Jack of All Trades". He worked for his best friend, Al, at Val Shell's Pawn Shop as a handy man.
In 1992, Garrett became a father for the first time. Then again in 1993, and once more in 1995. Katelynn, Justin, and Jack were Garrett's world. In most family pictures he is seen holding one of his children or a camera, recording the smiles on their faces. He proudly boasted about all three of his children and spoke about them whenever he could make the opportunity arise, which was rather frequent.
In 2013, Garrett took on the title of "Papi" with the birth of his first grandchild. In the years to come, he would become Papi to three more grandchildren and many other kiddos he saw as his grandchildren. Most weekends he could be found at games and competitions, cheering on his grandchildren in the many sports they play.
In 2018, Garrett met the love of his life, Esther York of Winthrop, Maine. His eyes lit up whenever he talked about his future wife. Garrett loved taking Esther on trips and exploring the Maine coast. Some of their best adventures were had visiting lighthouses all over the state of Maine and Sunday visits to Goodwill. Garrett loved Esther's sons, Stanley and Jason, as his own.
Garrett lived every day with a true happiness that is admirable. Regardless of the situation, he always had a smile on his face and an infectious laugh. His legacy lives on in his fiancée, Esther York, as well as his children, their partners, and his grandchildren: Katelynn Fitzgerald, husband Aaron Fitzgerald, and children Evan, Serenity, Joshua, and Faith Fitzgerald; Justin Reynolds and partner Mark; Jack Bard and partner Dryden Stuart; Stanley York, partner Emily, and children Bentley and Zochora ; Jason Taylor, partner Danielle and daughter Isabella.
Garrett is also survived by his sister Love Fitch and her husband Jason Fitch; sister Charity Hoard; his nieces and nephews; and best friend Mike Saucier.
Garrett was welcomed home to the Lord by his mother Laurie (Hulse) Reynolds and grandparents June and Albert Nepini.
A celebration of life will be had for Garrett on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 28th at 1pm at his daughter Katelynn's home in Wales, Maine. Garrett was adamant that Thanksgiving not be "skipped" and his family will be holding that sentiment in his honor.
