Obituary

Clinton ~ Pamela M. Frye Higbie, 46, of Bellsqueeze Road, died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. She was born in Rockland on April 13, 1967, the daughter of Lawrence and Martha (Huntley) Frye. Pam graduated from Cony High School in 1985 and later from Mid State College in 1995 with an Associates Degree in Applied Sciences. She started her working career in patient registration at Augusta General Hospital, where she worked for close to 20 years. After receiving her associates degree, she became licensed as a medical assistant and worked part time for several physicians until her health issues precluded her work. She was active in Girl Scouts and was a dedicated troop leader for 9 years. She influenced the lives of many young women and continued in this endeavor until her death. Pam enjoyed knitting, reading and was very skilled in making dried floral arrangements. She was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church in Waterville. She was predeceased by her parents Lawrence and Martha Frye. She is survived by her husband Andrew Higbie of Clinton; a daughter Alyssa M. Higbie of Clinton; two brothers, Peter A. Frye and his wife Lisa of West Gardiner and Paul A. Frye and his wife Angela of Augusta; step-mother Joyce Frye of Augusta and her special longtime friend Penny Marion of Portland; also several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Visiting will be held Friday, January 24, from 6-8pm at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, One Church St., Augusta. A celebration of Pam’s life will be held at 10:30am Saturday at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 60 Eustis Parkway, Waterville. A private burial will be held in Rockland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 13067, Alexandria VA. 22312 or to the American Lung Association, 122 State Street, Augusta ME. 04330.
