AUGUSTA- Patricia T. Richardson, 78, set off on her next adventure to join her son, Brian, on April 12, 2023.
Patricia (or Pat, Mom, Grandma, Foofie, or whichever affectionate name she was referred by) was born in Waterbury, CT, on November 17, 1944, as the only child of Warren & Mary (Griffin). She enlisted in the US Army in 1965 and served honorably in the Women's Army Corp as an OR Tech. After her discharge from the Army in 1969, she pursued her love of medicine by earning her LPN Certification in 1972.
The skills she learned in the Army and as an LPN at Augusta General (yes, that is what MaineGeneral Medical Center was called back in the day, back when the hospital sat along the Kennebec River) helped mold and shape the person we knew and loved. She was fiercely loyal, honest, loving, empathetic, joyous, and had a sharp wit that kept many on their toes (and laughing until they cried). These are qualities she ensured were shared with her children and grandson.
She often said, "I know that person from somewhere; I just can't put my finger on where I know them from." When you lived a life as well lived as Patricia did, it is no surprise. After retirement, Patricia was able to focus on learning as much as she could about Holistic Healing and Energy Work, which included her becoming a Reiki Master and a skilled practitioner of that art.
With Patricia needing to leave this earth plane so quickly, she had to leave a few people behind to ensure her memory would not fade into the night. Those left to continue her story are her daughters Tiffany Richardson of Augusta and Paige Richardson of South China, her grandson Michael Richardson of South China, her daughter-in-law Hope Richardson of Engelhard, NC, and her daughter Alexis Brown of Swan Quarter, NC.
To continue honoring Patricia's memory, the family invites you to celebrate her life on Sunday, May 7, 2023, from 12-4 pm in the Viles Room, Viles Arboretum, 153 Hospital Street, Augusta, ME.
Arrangements are in the care of the Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church Street, Augusta, where condolences and memories may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the funeral home website by visiting www.khrfuneralhomes.com
