Wayne ~ Pauline Patten Botka, 91, of Wayne, died Sunday January 29, 2017 at the Heritage Living Center in Winthrop. Pauline was born in Livermore Falls, Maine, the daughter of Dr. Warren and Ferne (Worthley) Patten. She married Edward Botka in 1947. They made their home in Maine and Connecticut for the next sixty years. Pauline was proud to be a graduate of the nursing program at Maine General Hospital in Portland and a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps. She worked week-end shifts at Henrietta Goodall Hospital in Sanford while raising her children. During the years she and Ed lived in Connecticut, Pauline volunteered for several organizations. These included 4-H, Girl Scouts and the Literacy Volunteer Program. She most enjoyed her many years as a Teacher’s Aid in the third grade class at her youngest daughter’s elementary school. Pauline had a great love for books and passed this love along to her family and students. Pauline was predeceased by her husband, Edward in 2007. She is survived by her daughter Christine Barden and her husband Thomas, of Wayne; her son, Eric Botka and his wife Mayumi, of Japan; and her daughter Edith Smith and her husband Moody, of Florida; and her grandchildren Benjamin, Heather and Autumn. She is also survived by her bother Otis Patten and his wife, Marion; her sister Norma Gilbert and her husband Harold; two sisters-in-law, Betty Cook and her husband Cleon, and Arlene Hallman; a brother-in-law John Botka, as well as several nieces and nephews. A graveside committal service will be held at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta at a later date and time to be announced.
