Obituary

AUGUSTA - Perry L. Bean, 52, of Gardiner died Monday, June 29, 2009, in Augusta, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born in Augusta, March 24, 1957, the son of Leonard and Hilda (Dickey) Bean. He was a 1975 graduate of Cony High School. Perry entered the U.S. Army shortly after high school and attended the University of Maine upon returning to Maine. Perry worked for NRF Distributors and Augusta Fruit, and was a long-haul truck driver. At the time of his death, Perry was a rural mail carrier for the Augusta post office. He enjoyed ham radio and his call sign was N1YUW. He liked working on old cars and most anything mechanical. Perry will be missed by his friends and family. Mr. Bean was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Frederick Bean. He is survived by his brothers, Lawrence E. Bean, of Bullard, Texas, Roland S. Bean and his wife, Bonnie, of Mount Vernon, Orland E. Bean and his wife, Donna, of Sidney, and Maurice A. Bean and his wife, Judith Brennan, of Benton; his longtime friend and companion, Shirley Kinney and special friends, Harold Pierce and Tom Johnson. A graveside service and time of remembrance will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Augusta on Thursday at 11 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.
