Obituary

Winthrop – Quincey Thomas Steorts, age 7, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Quincey was born in Austell, Georgia, on August 31, 2017, the beloved son of Jesse E. and Erin L. (Gammon) Steorts. A proud second grader at Winthrop Grade School, Quincey had a special love for math and was known for being an intuitive and thoughtful learner—always listening first, then asking just the right questions. He was a true sports enthusiast, cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Falcons, and was especially fond of Kyle Pitts of the Atlanta Falcons and Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings. His love of Monster Trucks was unmatched; he could name everyone he saw and cherished his trip to Monster Jam. Dinosaurs were another great passion—Quincey knew them all and was a walking encyclopedia of everything Jurassic Park. Quincey's joy for life radiated through his love of skiing at Lost Valley, hiking Cadillac Mountain with his family, and exploring the worlds of Sonic and Minecraft. Summer was his favorite time of year, especially days spent at the beach with his brothers, Avery and Reece, who were not just his siblings but his very best friends. Quincey had a bright, unforgettable smile and a heart full of kindness. Even during the hardest days of treatment, he always asked how others were doing, showing concern and love that far exceeded his years. His gentle spirit and deep compassion left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. He is deeply loved and missed by his parents, Jesse and Erin Steorts of Winthrop; his brothers, Avery and Reece; grandparents Jefferson and Michelle Steorts of Georgia, Tom and Ellen Gammon of Litchfield, and Sandy and Art Reynolds of Oxford; along with many adoring aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Visiting hours to celebrate Quincey's life will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop, ME.
