Obituary

CANAAN ? Ralph J. Wing Sr., 78, of Battle Ridge Road, formerly of North Leeds, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born in Leeds, March 9, 1924, the son of Harold B. and Edna (Rose) Wing. He graduated from Leavitt High School and had served in the Army. He worked for International Paper Company for 27 years until his retirement. In 2002, Ralph moved from Leeds to Canaan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising horses. He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline Wing, in 1980; two brothers, Roy Wing and Roland Wing; and a grandson, Shane Wing. He is survived by a son, Ralph J. Wing Jr., and his wife, Brenda, of Bristol, Conn.; a daughter, Sheila Bailey and her husband, Robert, of Kingwood, Texas; a close friend and companion, Clara Morris of Canaan; three grandchildren, Matthew Bailey and Michael Bailey, of Kingwood, and Michelle Wing of Marathon Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be private. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at Leeds Center Cemetery on Route 106. The Rev. Donald Davenport will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, New England Affiliate, 20 Speen St., Framingham, Mass. 01701-4688 Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop Maine.
