Obituary

GREENE ~ Randall B. Hanson, 52, of Greene, died Sunday December 28, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston. He was born November 7, 1962 in Lewiston to Stanwood and Rose (Bubier) Hanson. He grew up in Greene among a very large extended family. He graduated from Leavitt Area High School in 1981 after which he drove his “old hippy van” to Alaska with his cousin Tim. While working at the airline in Homer, he traveled the world on many adventures with his hiking boots and backpack. He made it to Japan, Taiwan, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and back around to Texas, his third home, having met his very good friend Leon in Alaska, who was from Texas. On a visit back home to Maine in 1984, he met his future wife, Sheri, who, upon her graduation in June 1985, accompanied him back to Alaska in the same “old hippy van” for the first of many adventures to be shared in the next 30 years. On November 22, 1993, his son Anthony came into the world a little earlier than planned to disrupt the hunting for that Thanksgiving. He, like his father, did things in his own time and on his own terms. He loved every day he could wake up and enjoy life’s simple pleasures; the sun shining in the window, the antics of the many animals he called family, the Christmas lights left up all year long. His greatest joy was being able to watch his son grow from boy to man, to succeed in everything he did, especially college and he enjoyed their conversations immensely. In his travels, his business and his everyday life, he touched many and brightened many a day. He will be missed. Mr. Hanson was predeceased by his parents, Stanwood and Rose Hanson. Randy is survived by his wife, Sheri, and son, Anthony, of Greene, Porky, Ernie and Wilbur, the three pigs that made him infamous in print and on cable; his brother Ben Leonas of Auburn; cousins Steve, Tim, Ian and Tyler; special friends, the Blanchards, of Turner, Kat Williams and his Texas family, Rick Hollis, Shawn Savage, Tom Banks and extended family far and wide. There will not be any services at this time. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation service, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop. Memories, condolences, photos, and videos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of our website at www.khrfuneralhomes.com
