OBITUARY FARMINGDALE- Richard Matthew Acker, 67, passed away November 15, 2022. Born on June 7, 1955, in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Dorothea (Thomas) Acker Rose and Ralph Henry Rose. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his; brothers, John T. Acker, Paul F. Acker (Carol Acker), niece Linda Acker, and nephew John F. Acker. Richard is survived by his sister Karen Rose Littleton, sister-in-law Donna Acker, nieces Michelle Acker and Lauren Littleton; nephew Thomas Acker (Jennifer Acker), and great nephews Joel and Paul Acker. He graduated from St. Patrick's Institute, Albany, NY; Columbia High School, East Greenbush, NY; Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, NY; and College of St. Rose, Albany, NY. Richard started out in his career as an elementary school teacher in Catskill, NY, served as a Director for Sunshine Daycare, NY and Bright Horizons, CT, and co-owned a specialty store in Portland. Later in life Richard returned to school to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. He was working as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant at the Mid Coast Medical Group Urology. His hobbies included quilting, road tripping, going to amusement parks to ride roller coasters, and reading. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Richard's honor to the Dempsey Center or the Marginal Way Preservation Fund. A celebration of Richard's life will be held at the end of December in Ogunquit, Maine and in East Greenbush, New York. Details will be updated on Richard's Facebook page.
