AUGUSTA ? Richard W. Michaud Ph.D, 65, of Three Mile Pond, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at MaineGeneral MedicalCenter, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Dec. 18, 2001. \r\r\n\r\r\nHe was born in Augusta, Nov. 6, 1936, the only child of Wilfred T. and Mary A. (Pelletier) Michaud. \r\r\n\r\r\nHe was raised on Sand Hill, and attended St. Augustine School and Cony High School. Richard graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a bachelor's degree in economics and later received his master's degree in social work from Boston University. He worked for several years in the Department of Human Services and served as the director of the Bureau of Maine's Elderly under Gov. Kenneth M. Curtis. In 1983, he earned a Ph.D from Southwestern University in Tucson, Ariz. He then went into private practice as Augusta Counseling Associates. \r\r\n\r\r\nHe was a Maine Guide who loved to travel, hunt and fish, and had a special love for Moosehead Lake. He was a member of the Augusta Elks Lodge and Le Club Calumet, and will always be remembered for his wit and wonderful sense of humor. \r\r\n\r\r\nHe leaves behind his beloved wife, Sandra, whom he married Sept. 11, 1993; his two daughters, Mary A. Michaud and her companion, David Vintinner of Manchester, and Suzanne M. Pooler and her husband, Michael of Oakland. He is also survived by four stepchildren, Ted Drummond and his wife, Bonnie, Timothy Drummond and his wife, Jeannie, Todd Drummond and his wife, Joanna and Susan Murray, and 9 grandchildren. \r\r\n\r\r\nHe was predeceased by his granddaughter, Katherine Mary Pooler, in May 2001. \r\r\n\r\r\nRelatives and friends are invited to visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta with Rev.
