READFIELD - Richard M. Spearin, 78, of Readfield died Monday, April 21, 2008, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Unit, Waterville. He was born in Gardiner on Jan. 16, 1930, the son of James and Elizabeth (MacMahan) Spearin. Richard was a farmer and was also proficient at woodworking and carpentry. He was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was formerly on the Augusta Maine Stake High Council and was currently serving in the Boston Temple. Mr. Spearin was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Susan McInnis; and a grandson, Adam Spearin. He is survived by his wife, Nina Ross Spearin; his son, Scott Spearin and his wife, Ricki, of Oakley, Idaho; his daughters, Jan Floyd and her husband, Eddie, of Granbury, Texas, and Amy Simonton and her husband, Rick, of Burbank, Wash.; his stepchildren, Beverly Gill and her husband, PJ, of Randolph, Debbie Boynton, of Augusta, and Bonnie Leighton and her husband, Bob, of Readfield; his brother, Rodney Spearin and his wife, Linda, of Gardiner; his sister, Louise Peacock and her husband, Merle, of Gardiner; his grandchildren, Sean, Sam, Lisa, Christina, Travis, Michael, Jamie, Erica, Chase, Weston and Tucker; his step-grandchildren, Brian, Kyle, Devin, Tom and Tatiana; along with many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Friday at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. Funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Farmingdale. Burial will take place in Granbury, Texas.
