Obituary

Readfield - Robert (Bob) Bryant, 95, passed away on July 16, 2024, rejoining his wife, Dottie, of nearly 67 years. Bob was born in Readfield on Oct 3, 1928 to the late Albion and Annie (King) Bryant. After receiving his GED, Bob joined the Army and was deployed to Korea. Upon leaving the Army, Bob met Dottie, married on Nov 24, 1956, and welcomed four children over the next few years. Bob worked at various jobs including Saunders Manufacturing. In 1965, when the opportunity came up to take over the family farm in New Sharon, he and Dottie eagerly moved there with their children and worked side by side for the next eight years. Bob was a jack of all trades and took on many roles in the subsequent years including automotive mechanic, building contractor, heavy equipment operator, and bus driver to name a few. He and Dottie worked together for 50 years building houses and renovating homes. During that time, they also spent time traveling throughout the US visiting family and other places of interest. Bob enjoyed attending as many sporting events as possible for his children and continued that practice for his grandchildren and great grandchildren right up until this past year. In 2022, at 93, Bob traveled to Washington DC with Honor Flight Maine. He thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity, regretting only that he hadn't done it sooner. Bob is survived by his son, Russell Bryant of Cosby, TN, daughters Sherry (Mike) Bilodeau of Durham, Patty Parlin of Chesterville, and Betty Bryant of Sidney. Grandchildren, Karrie Phenes, Brandon Bryant, Kimberly (Mike) Viola, Sabrina (Justin) Lowe, and Bianca Gagne. Great grandchildren, Jazmine Gorman, Reece and Remy Hitlz, Kaiden Bryant, Liam Lowe, Rowen and Cameron Viola, and great great granddaughter, Haven Howard. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth Bryant and many extended famly members. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by the love of his life, Dottie, 1 great grandson, Wilder Goodhue, and 7 of his 8 siblings. A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Monday, July 22 from 2-4pm at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop. Family and friends are invited to come, reminisce, and share memories.
