Obituary

MONMOUTH ~ Robert C. Morang, 74, past away peacefully from lung and heart disease at the Hospice House Of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn surrounded by his loving wife, Alice, and children Shawn, Lynn and Keith. Bob was born in Augusta on August 15th, 1940, the son Leon and Lillian (Graham) Morang. He attended Augusta schools where he met Alice, his wife of 55 years. At the age of 17, Bob joined the United States Navy where he proudly served his country and travelled the world for the next 20 years. Upon retirement from the United States Navy, Bob and his family returned to Maine, where he diligently worked at the V.A. Medical Center for 35 years, dedicating himself to serving veterans. Above work and service, Bob’s love, commitment, and pride for his family was the utmost importance to him, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren as he proudly watched them participate in various activities. Bob was predeceased by his parents Leon and Lillian; brothers Merle, Pete, Roland, Donald, Karl, Paul, and Richard; sisters Marjorie, Helen, Ruthie, Hazel, and Edith; and great grandson Evan. Bob is survived by his loving wife Alice; his grateful children, Shawn and his wife Theresa, Lynn, and Keith and his wife Kelly; grandchildren Lance, Cheyanne, Michael and his wife Janet, Chad, Easton, and Taylor; great grandchildren Ethan, Roselyn, Averiana, Dylan, Kayden, and Alilyn; sister Joyce; many nephews, nieces, and cousins; and his loyal lapdog Phoebe. Bob’s life will be celebrated at a committal service with full military honors on Friday, December 5th at 2:00pm in the chapel at the new Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. Bob’s family wishes to thank the caring staff of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice Foundation, 15 Strawberry Lane, Lewiston, ME 04243-0819.
