WHITEFIELD- Robert "Steve" Parlin, 67, of Whitefield, Maine passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, surrounded by family and love.
Steve attended Oak Hill High School and graduated in 1976 and went on to basic training for the Army National Guard in Fort Worth, Texas from which he retired in 2001 after 19 years of service.
He served his state and country with pride through his career with the State of Maine and his dedicated service in the Army National Guard. Steve worked for the State of Maine working in several different departments until he retired after 25 years of service.
Steve lived a life full of adventure. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, working in his gardens, and his love of music which he would always be strumming one of his collections of guitars.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence E. Parlin Sr. and Rita (Dufoure) Parlin, sister, Yvonne Falley and brother, Roger Parlin.
He is survived by his son Lucas E. Parlin of West Gardiner, daughter Rachel S. Chavarie and husband Abel Chavarie of Sidney, former wife, Laurie Marquis of West Gardiner, his beautiful grandchildren, Kayden Parlin, Madi, Cole and Reese Chavarie, 2 brothers, Lawrence Parlin, Jr. and wife Doris of Eagle Lake, and Joey Parlin of Augusta as well as several nieces and nephews.
There will be no public viewing hours. A graveside service will be held on Friday November 14th at 10AM at the new Maine Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, where Steve will receive full military honors. A celebration of life will follow immediately after at the Augusta Elks to share memories of Steve's life with light refreshments served.
Those who wish to honor Steve's memory are encouraged to spend time outdoors, play some music and appreciate the simple things in life just as he did.
