OLD ORCHARD BEACH - Robert Schneiter, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, at Maine Medical Center, surrounded by his loving wife, Pam, and children. Born on April 9, 1956, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Robert lived a life full of love, adventure, and service to others.

Robert, affectionately known as Bob, was the cherished son of the late Harry and Joan Schneiter. He was predeceased by his parents, sister-in-law Jolene, daughter Sarah, and nephew Teddy. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Pamela, and their blended family: son Tristan (Stephaine) Schneiter, and stepchildren Matthew (Jennie) McGrath, Andrew (Sita) McGrath, and Timothy (Amy) McGrath. Bob was the proud grandfather to Sophie, Rylee, Isabella, Aubrey, Jonah, Stella and Sebastian. He is also survived by his siblings John, Tom (Sue), Chris (Valerie), and Marielle (Steve), who will forever cherish his memory.

A graduate of Allegan High School in 1975, Bob furthered his education at the Restaurant School of Philadelphia, which paved the way for a lifelong career in the food service industry. His passion for food and service was evident in every meal he prepared, from managing and running restaurants and cafeterias to his invaluable contributions to the State of Maine's Meals on Wheels program. One of his most cherished roles was preparing meals during sea trials for the new destroyers at Bath Iron Works, a testament to his dedication and skill.

Bob was a man of many interests, most notably his love for fishing and camping. An avid fisherman, he had a particular fondness for fly fishing, yet embraced all forms of the sport. Camping played a significant role in his life, and recent summers were joyfully spent with Pam at Meadowbrook Campground in Phippsburg, ME. Together, they created a home away from home, forging lasting friendships along the way. Bob was also an accomplished slalom water skier, known for his adventurous spirit, even in his youth, when he famously used a canoe paddle as a ski, much to his father's despair. His adventurous spirit led him and Pam on a memorable journey across the country on Route 66.

Above all, Bob was a family man, a constant presence at his grandchildren's games, plays, gymnastics events, and school activities. He was known for his welcoming nature and kind heart, touching the lives of countless people from all walks of life.

A service to honor and celebrate Bob's life will be held on October 3, 2026, at 12-3PM at Roberts Funeral Home, located at 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, ME. Following there will be a gathering at the American Legion Post 40 in Winthrop from 3-6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice, reflecting Bob’s generous spirit.

In the words of Helen Keller, which the family holds dear, "What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Bob Schneiter will forever remain a part of those who knew and loved him.
