AUGUSTA ? Rose Lyon, 83, of Summerhaven Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. She was born in Augusta, March 3, 1919, the daughter of Frank and Ozzity (Bossie) Lajoie. Rose attended Augusta-area schools and had worked for Bates Manufacturing Co. for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Kennebec Hobbies Club and attended Penny Memorial United Baptist Church in Augusta. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking and being at their camp in Rangely. She was predeceased by a son, Gerald Cottle, in 1963. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Norman A. Lyon of Augusta; a son, Robert Cottle of Puyallup, Wash.; three daughters, Marie Lahaye of Gardiner, Nancy Merrick of Augusta and Sheila Colfer and her husband, Joe, of Augusta; a stepson, Percy Lyon and his wife, Patti, of Goose Creek, S.C.; her grandchildren, Bonnie Colfer, Kathy Merrick, Eric Lavallee, Joshua Colfer, Thomas Cottle, Jeremy Cottle, Mike Cottle, Timothy Cason, Delmont Harvey, Brian Lahaye, Kenny Lahaye and Arnie Pete Lahaye; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Paul Basham will officiate. A committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, in the chapel at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American HeartAssociation, 20 Speen St., Framingham, Mass. 01701-4688.
