AUGUSTA - Ruth S. Munce, 89, of Ridgewood Drive, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta. She was born in Portland on Dec. 29, 1914, the daughter of Herman and Leona (Johnson) Stover Sr. Ruth graduated from Aroostook Central Institute in Mars Hill and also from New England Business College in Portland. She had worked for General Motors Acceptance Corp., and later as an executive assistant to Judge Edward T. Gignoux in Portland, retiring in 1983. In 1988 she moved to Augusta to be with her brother. She enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles, watching and feeding the birds and tatting (lace making). She had a love for animals, especially her cats Cash and Carrie. She was also a supporter of the Kennebec Valley Humane Society. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Clement Munce; and two sisters, Marian 'Mike' Leighton and Laura Matthews. She is survived by a brother, Herman D. Stover of Augusta; also several nieces and nephews. There will be no visiting or services at this time. Burial will take place at a later date in Harpswell Center.
