Samuel Marshall Sessler (9/02/2006 -1/17/2023)
Son, Brother, Artist, Poet, Friend
Sam is our best friend. If you ever had the privilege to meet Sam, your life was forever changed. Sam was an artist, activist, straight-A student, lover of nature, and pursuer of knowledge. He had a way with words that brought people to tears, always creating something beautiful. He is the funniest and strongest person that ever has been or ever will be. He was still the most compassionate, kind soul through his own hard life. He advocated for disability rights, social justice issues, and the planet as an active member of the Civil Rights Club and Student Senate. He is survived by his parents, Sara and Bill Sessler, sisters Phoebe Ellen and Lucy, his best friends, and everyone else whose life he changed for the better. If you want to feel Sam in your heart, find the best place for acoustics in your home (Sam recommends a corner) and listen to The Only Living Boy in New York by Simon and Garfunkel or meditate on the beauty of your ceiling's architecture.
You can honor Sam's memory by making a donation to the Make
a Wish Foundation at https://wish.org/
Sam's memorial will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are in the care of the Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop where condolences and memories may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the funeral home website by visiting www.khrfuneralhomes.com
