Obituary

Augusta- Sandra M. Morse, 76, passed away at her home in Augusta on May 24. Sandra was a devoted and loving sibling to her sisters, Judy and Linda, each of whom predeceased her. Together, the three Morse sisters were the lively and raucous heart of their family. Their laughs were magic, especially when they were together. Sandra was born in Lewiston in 1949 and grew up attending Catholic schools in the area. She discovered spiritualism in her adult life and cultivated deep connections with spiritual practices like meditation, tarot, and spellwork. She had a life-long love for learning and enjoyed reading about history, anthropology and eastern philosophies, especially Buddhism and Hinduism. She never abandoned her commitment to see and accept people as they were, something that was deeply transformative for her nieces and nephews as they were growing up and well into adulthood. Sandra is survived by her nieces and nephews, Myles Robert, Jessy Kendall, Sarah Kendall, and Grace Kendall, and her great-niece, Ella Fenderson, each of whom shared a special bond and many, many memories with her, from Grateful Dead concerts, hikes up Katahdin, or long trail rides on horseback. A celebration of life will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church at 69 Winthrop Street in Augusta on June 21 from 1pm to 2pm. All are invited to come and share their memories of Sandy. Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church Street, Augusta, ME.
