WINTHROP- Sean Francis Siragusa passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Sean was born in West Springfield, Massachusetts, on December 16, 1961.
He spent many years in Western Massachusetts working as a sous chef alongside his brother Larry, a time that he cherished throughout his life. He also worked for many years as a carpenter with Jay Crouteau & Sons in Chicopee, Massachusetts, where he found his vocation as a fine craftsman carpenter.
In 1996, Sean moved to Winthrop, Maine, and started his business, Siragusa Builders, that flourished for 28 years. He crowned his career working for Maine Cabin Masters, who graciously gave him the latitude to work whenever he was able throughout the years of his illness. His journey with the Tres Dias community at Mechuwana United Methodist Camp in Winthrop was the anchor of his spiritual life. This beloved community gave him the strength and fellowship that he had long sought. Sean was also an active member of CODA Chorus of Winthrop, Maine, for over three decades. He loved to sing.
Sean had a deep faith that was evident in the grace-filled way that he handled his illness and death. Sean leaves behind his beloved family: wife Andrea, step-daughters Nora Michelle Finnerty, and Mariah Rose Finnerty, and grandchildren Michaela and Liam of Western Massachusetts. Sean was a cherished brother to seven siblings and their families: Kathleen Ashmore-Roberts and her husband Daniel Roberts of Palmer, Alaska; Patricia Engdahl and her late husband Robert of Winthrop; Barbara Moody and her husband Stanley of Manchester, Maine; James Siragusa and his wife Linda of Stow, Maine; Lawrence Siragusa and his wife Nancy of Meriden, Connecticut; Mary Beth Lesko and her late husband Richard of Harmony, Maine; and Sheila Siragusa and her partner Liesel de Boor of Holyoke, Massachusetts. Among those left behind are twelve nieces and nephews and twelve grand-nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Sean's sisters Kathy and Sheila, who nursed him through his last months. Sean will be so missed. His quiet, gentle spirit was a steady presence for his entire family.
On Sunday, March 2, visiting hours will be held from 10:30–11:00 am in Memorial Chapel at Mechuwana United Methodist Camp, 91 Holmes Road, Winthrop, Maine, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am, also at the chapel. The service will be followed by a light luncheon at the Commons at Mechuwana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made in Sean's honor to Camp Mechuwana.
Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop, Maine.
