Obituary

Greene- Shirley E. Collins, 78, of Greene, passed away peacefully at her home the afternoon of Friday, August 30th. Shirley was born on October 13th, 1945, in Augusta to Jack and Gladys (Pettengill) Williams. She fought a courageous battle for over five years of disability. She grew up in Monmouth and attended Monmouth schools. She worked at Livermore Shoe, Lipmans, Hallowell Shoe and other various jobs. On January 8th, 1966, she married her husband, Larry Collins. They briefly resided in Augusta, then Monmouth before settling in Greene. She enjoyed going out to bingo and going to yard sales with her family. She also loved country music and her cats (especially Angel). She often spent her time socializing on her computer with friends and family. She is survived by her husband, Larry E. Collins, daughter in law Laurie Collins, grandson Joey Collins, granddaughter Kerri and her husband Farshid, her great granddaughter Julia Collins, brothers Bobby Williams, Roger Williams and wife Ellie. Her sisters Sally Manson, Priscilla Mercier and Robin Williams. She was predeceased by her parents Jack and Gladys Williams, her son Larry J. Collins, her brother John Williams, her brother-in-law George Mercier and sister-in-law Jeanette Williams. Shirley's visiting hours will be in the Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 4-7 PM. With a Prayer service in the funeral home at 6:30 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers donations in Shirley's memory can be made to Pals Cat Shelter in Winthrop Maine. Arrangements are in the care of the Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop where condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the funeral home website by visiting www.khrfuneralhomes.com
