WINTHROP- Susan Anne Dow, 67, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Winthrop on June 11, 2012. Susan was born in Gardiner on September 21, 1944, the daughter of the late Norman “Nim” Roberts Dow Jr. and Gladys “Pat” (Sears) Dow. Susan graduated from Kents Hill School in Readfield but was always a Gardiner girl at heart. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in education from the University Of Maine at Presque Isle and proudly earned a Master’s degree in social work from Boston College. Susan was employed at Carlton Woolen Mill in Winthrop, Augusta Mental Health Institute and Tri County Mental Health. She enjoyed spending time on the coast of Maine, especially at Pemaquid, collecting the artwork of the Wyeth family, and spoiling her beloved Keeshond, KiKi. Susan is survived by her best friend of 40 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Veneziano, of Winthrop; aunt Eleanor (Wise) Dow of S. Portland; cousins, Millard Harrison & his wife, Anne, of Lincolnville Center and Barbara (Dow) Nucci, Domenico, Andrea, Enrico, Valentina and Eleonora Nucci of Naples, Italy; and the people she called family, Mary Ellen Beaulieu and Ron Gilbert of Winslow, Sally Beaulieu of Hallowell, Dana, Risa, Bethany and Bianca Beaulieu of Anson, Michael Tammie, Darby and Bayley Beaulieu of Litchfield; and special friend and neighbor, Annette Moody, of Winthrop. Susan’s life will be celebrated with a graveside service at 11:00 am on Friday, June 22 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner.
