Obituary

HALLOWELL - Thelma Morgan, 88, of Hallowell died Tuesday March 29, 2005, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation, Gray Birch, in Augusta. Thelma was born in Hallowell on July 28, 1916, the daughter of Mayo W. and Ida (Millett) Perkins. A lifelong resident of Hallowell, she worked several years at McClellan's in Augusta before becoming a full-time homemaker. She was a 45-year member of First Baptist Church of Hallowell, where she was a member of the choir and active in Martha's Circle. Mrs. Morgan was predeceased, on Dec. 3, 1998, by her husband of 61 years, Victor Ralph Morgan; also an infant son, Victor Russell; and a half-brother, Edgar Steele. She is survived by and will lovingly be remembered by her family: sons Richard Morgan and his wife, Linda, and Robert Morgan and his wife, Virginia, all of Augusta; grandchildren Kelley Wathen and her husband, Dan, of Augusta, Wendy Dodge and her husband, Dan, of Farmingdale, Julie Ferry and her husband, Greg, of Hooksett, N.H., and Jeffrey Morgan and his wife, Kelly, of West Gardiner; great-grandchildren Christopher Dodge, Bradley, Jillian and Anna Ferry, and Joseph and Erin Wathen; a special sister-in-law, Louise Perkins; and a nephew and several nieces. A committal service will be held at the Father LeClair Chapel of the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive in Augusta, Monday at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Thelma's memory may be made to the Autism Society of Maine, 72B Main Street, Winthrop 04364. The family would like to express gratitude for the loving care that Thelma received from the staff at Gray Birch Rehabilitation Center during her nine month residence. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.
