Obituary

Thomas Patrick Lutz (Tommy) was born on March 17, 1956 to the late Mary (Furrey) and Emil Lutz. He passed away unexpectedly at his home in Wildwood, NJ on April 5, 2024.

Tommy loved the theater and arts and was in numerous plays during his high school and college years. He graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1974 then attended Rutgers University and graduated from William Patterson College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After working at the post office for a few years, he attended New York Law School where he graduated then passed the bar exam in NJ and 4 other states. Tommy lived in Ft. Myers Florida for a few years then settled back in NJ where he practiced law until his passing.

In semi-retirement, Tommy was the property manager for a facility that housed formerly homeless people while he continued practicing law. Reading was another passion and he had an expansive personal library of law books, novels and other reading material. His sense of humor was outstanding and his laugh infectious. Tommy also loved to travel and visited Europe several times during his younger years.

Tommy is survived by his sister Margaret (Peggy) Pennabere from Winthrop, ME and brother James (Jimmy) Lutz from Boonton, NJ. Tommy was loved and will be sorely missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and his brother’s grandchildren.

Tommy will be fondly remembered by his family and many friends. A funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 276 Diamond Bridge Avenue, Hawthorne, NJ on Saturday April 27th at 10 am with a luncheon to follow at a local establishment.
