Obituary

WINTHROP-Timothy Abbott passed away peacefully at home on May 31, 2024, after a courageous and hard fought 2 year battle with lung cancer. He was born on September 18, 1948 to Leigh and Loletta "Lollie" Webster Abbott. Tim graduated from Cony High School in 1966 and he finished a 2 year draftsman course in 1 year at CMVTI. He started working at Progressive Iron Works in Winthrop in 1967, which he later purchased and ran with his son, Bill. In 2002, he and his son opened Bill's Welding and Fabrication. In recent years he also drew for Presby Steel. Tim was an avid snowmobiler and he loved racing. He had the opportunity to visit several tracks in person including going to Bristol with his son and daughter-in-law. He spent many days at his camp in Millinocket where he enjoyed fishing and hunting with Bill and several friends. He even got a young fox he called Bones to eat dog treats from his hand. Tim loved to ride his Harley and he looked forward to his Wednesday night "Men's Night" where the friends he rode with and a few extras would get together for a few drinks and share some laughter and memories. He is survived by his son, William and his wife Jill of Winthrop, his grand-dog Jack, and his adopted grandson Andrew Moulton of Wayne. Bill and Jill want to express their gratitude and appreciation to Jenny W. from Maine General Hospice for her compassion and professional care to Tim in his last few days. Also, a special thank you to Paul King who was with us daily and was also with us as Tim ended his life on earth and started on his next journey. In honoring Tim's wishes, there will be no service. The family will have a celebration of life a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop, ME 04364 where memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.khrfuneralhome.com
