Obituary

WINTHROP - Timothy Kent Kaler, 57, of Winthrop died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at his home. He was born in Augusta on July 12, 1946, the son of Howard and Martha (Potter) Kaler. Tim grew up in Augusta and was a graduate of Cony High School. After high school, Tim served in the Army in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970, reaching the rank of specialist four before his discharge. Mr. Kaler worked as a carpenter, both for other contractors and self-employed, since his return from the Army. Tim is survived by his wife, Carol Fortier Kaler; three stepdaughters, Melissa Child of Manchester, Danielle Beckwith and her husband, Thomas, of Monmouth and Lindsey Fortier of Winthrop; two brothers, Richard 'Dick' Kaler and his wife, Maralee, of Hobe Sound, Fla., and Terry Kaler, of Honolulu, Hawaii; a sister, Jean Nevins and her husband, Jim, of Manchester; and two great-grandchildren, Nickkolas Child and Mikayla Ellis. A committal service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the new Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road in Augusta.
