AUGUSTA - Vera A. Geroux, 92, of North Augusta, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a stroke. She was born in Augusta on Dec. 15, 1913, the daughter of Frank and Ella Damren. She was employed for many years by the state of Maine, Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, before retiring in 1983. Vera was an extremely beautiful, generous, kind and compassionate person, not only to her family but to all she met. She enjoyed spending time with her family and living life to the fullest. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Vera will be dearly remembered by her granddaughter, Angela M. Smith, of Farmingdale, whom she brought up since childhood. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Leo J. Geroux; and her son, William F. Keene. Mrs. Geroux is survived by four daughters, Andrea M. Clement of Sidney, Leone J. Wyman of Augusta, Rosemary G. Laliberte of Augusta and Beverly G. Stoddard of Fort Myers, Fla.; daughter-in-law Gladys L. Keene of Manchester; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church Street, Augusta, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Spring burial will occur at Reynolds Hill Cemetery in Sidney. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, 10 Pet Haven Lane, Augusta, ME 04330.
