Victor Gorneau, affectionately known as Bugs, passed away unexpectedly on February 11, 2026. He was born in Augusta, ME on November 16, 1946, the son of Victor and Leona (Bouffard) Gorneau Sr.
Victor was a proud homebody who found his greatest contentment right where he was. He had a lifelong love of computers and could often be found researching politics online, always staying informed and ready to share what he'd learned. He enjoyed playing pool, working on cars (even if they were rarely fully finished), and simply puttering in the garage. For Victor, it was never about completing the project — it was about the satisfaction of tinkering and figuring things out along the way.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Loraine, and his brother Bobby. He is survived by his siblings Mary Ann Ellsworth, Joanne Stephens, Jeanette Garland, and Raymond, along with many nieces and nephews who will remember his quiet presence, dry wit, and steadfast nature.
His family would also like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate neighbor and passerby who stopped to provide medical aid until EMTs arrived. Your kindness in a critical moment will never be forgotten.
Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church Street, Augusta, ME. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared with the family by visiting the Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home website www.KHRFuneralHomes.com
