Obituary

PENOBSCOT - Vivian Blair Farnham, 80, of Penobscot Nursing Home, and formerly of Augusta, died Monday, June 21, 2010, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, Blue Hill. She was born in Augusta on Jan. 29, 1930, the daughter of Hugh and Theo (Mooers) Blair. Vivian graduated from Cony High School in the class of 1948. She was employed by the state of Maine in the Department of Motor Vehicle from the 1950s until 1972. In 1972, Vivian moved to Penobscot where she and her husband, Alton Farnham, operated Farnham's Equipment Company for many years. She was a member of South Parish Congregational Church in Augusta from the year she was born until moving to Penobscot in 1972. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Alton S. Farnham, and a son, Anthony 'Tony' McGlauflin. She is survived by a son, David McGlauflin, of Irmo, S.C. and four grandchildren, Gwendalyn B. Benoit of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Maricel T., Anthony C., and Christian D. McGlauflin, all of Irmo. A memorial service celebrating Vivian's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1 Church St., Augusta. Burial will immediately follow in Kling Cemetery, West River Road, Augusta.
