Obituary

AUGUSTA - Vivian (Drouin) Karlsson, 75, of Augusta went home to be with her Lord Jesus early Monday morning, January 8th, 2007, surrounded by her family. She was born in Augusta on May 9th, 1931, the daughter of Joseph and Marion (Breton) Drouin. Vivian worked for many years at Hazzard Shoe in Augusta and then went on to work in the food service department at Togus. She was a member of Chelsea Praise & Worship Center and loved God with all her heart and soul. She enjoyed going to area nursing homes to sing to the residents as well as shopping for bargains at the Salvation Army. She also liked baking, specializing in woopie pies, which she often made for her family, and was well known for her revival cakes which she made for many evangelists. Vivian is survived by her husband of 14 years, Halmar Karlsson, Jr.; four sons, Donnie Weeks & wife, Judy, of Arizona, Richard Weeks & wife, Mabel, Hjalmar Karlsson III & wife, Cheryl, and Kurt Karlsson & wife, Linda, all of Augusta; two daughters, Kathy Peaslee & husband, Rev. Harold Peaslee, of Augusta and Susan Grant & husband, Gary, of Cushing; three sisters, Louise Nadeau and Joan Tuttle of Augusta and Cecile Cameron of Embden; 19 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews as well as her long time family friend, Skip Saulnier. Vivian and her family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at MaineGeneral Medical Center and special thanks to Blanca, Vivian?s sunshine, for all her tender loving care. Also special thanks to the HealthReach Hospice nurses, especially Wendy. A memorial celebration of Vivian?s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, Jan. 13th, at the Chelsea Praise & Worship Center, 1186 Eastern Ave., Chelsea, with Rev. Harold Peaslee officiating. A committal service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 16th, in the chapel at the old Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, One Church St., Augusta.
