WINTHROP- Vivian Norma (Barkwell) Panek passed away unexpectedly on October 22,2021 at home. Wife of the late Edward Panek. Vivian was born November 20,1924 in Asquith, Saskatchewan, Canada, daughter of the late Henry and Clarice (Brierley) Barkwell. In 1940 the family came to the United States and resided in Madison, ME. She was a graduate of Madison High School Class of 1942 and was the class Valedictorian. She went onto further her education graduating from Gates Business School. Vivian worked for the State of Maine Department of Dental Health for many years until retiring. She previously worked in the offices at Hallowell Shoe and Depositors Trust. She is survived by her sister June Wagner as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband Edward, Vivian is predeceased by her brother Rex Barkwell. Vivian’s graveside service will be Tuesday, November 9,2021 at 1:00 PM in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 143 Blue Star Ave Augusta. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
