Warren Davenport, 82, from Wayne passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 5th after a short illness. He was the son of Horace and Marion (Mitchell) Davenport, of Wayne, ME who predeceased him in death. Warren was born in Lewiston, Me on January 5, 1939. He graduated from Winthrop High School in 1957, joining the US Navy as MM3 serving on the USS Northampton CLC-1 from 1957 to 1963. In his youth Warren was involved with 4-H and developed an interest in animal husbandry, winning countless awards and distinctions. In 1956 he earned the Thomas E Elder award for herdsmanship at Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, MA as well as awarded a trip to the National 4-H congress in Chicago, IL. After his honorable discharge from the US Navy Warren met his wife Eva, who he married in 1968, forming a partnership in developing an award-winning dairy farm operation and cattle breeding program. Warren also found time for many civic & community leadership roles including: Selectmen, Volunteer Fireman, President of Cemetery Association, 68-year member of Grange and lifetime member of the Holstein Friesian Association of America. He was also involved in Maine Farm Bureau, Kennebec Soil & Water Conservation District, and the Maine Antique Tractor Club. In retirement, Warren and Eva bought an RV and toured North America, ultimately discovering and settling in Florence, AZ where they spent winters for two decades. In Arizona, they enjoyed exploring the vibrant desert and collecting rocks and minerals. He is survived by his wife Eva (Wilkins) Davenport of Wayne, twin sister, Wanita (Davenport) Baker of Manchester, daughter, Pamela (Davenport) Grimshaw of Hallowell, son, Walter Davenport and his partner Allegra Norton of Wayne, son Peter Davenport and wife Tressia of Wayne. Two grandchildren, Matthew Davenport and wife Julie of Leeds, Andria Davenport and her partner Skyler Webb of Wayne. Two step grandchildren, Bryanna Belz (deceased) and Gregory Belz of Wayne. One great granddaughter, Nettie Davenport of Leeds. The family would like to thank medical staff at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta, and Hospice care staff at the Community Living Center, Togus VA in Augusta.
