RANDOLPH- William I. Peterson, Jr., 88, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, in the Alfond Center for Health after a brief illness. He is the loving husband of Jane E. (Kloth) Peterson with whom he shared over 68 years of marriage.
William was born November 6, 1934, in Portland, Maine. He is the son of the late William I. and Rosa (Jensen) Peterson. He resided in Randolph for over 25 years. He is a graduate of Westbook High School. He went on to further his education at U Maine Augusta where he received his degree.
William worked for the Internal Revenue Service for over 31 years ending his career as Chief of Collection and Taxpayer Services. He previously worked in the Insurance Industry and S.D. Warren.
He was a member of the United States Marine Reserves for eight years.
William and Jane were members at Emmauel Lutheran Episcopal Church for many years. He also enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino's, spending time with his family and 25 years of warm winters in Venice Florida.
In addition to his loving wife Jane, William is survived by his children William Peterson and his wife Patricia of Florida, Michael Peterson and his wife Dawn of Maine, Kurt Peterson and his wife Rose of Guam, Karen Charest and her husband Michael of Maine, Sonja Kalloch of Maine. William was very proud of his 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by his brother David T. "Ted" Peterson.
William's Memorial Service will be in the Emmanuel Lutheran Episcopal Church, 209 Eastern Ave, Augusta on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Immediately following services there will be a reception at the Church. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Falmouth.
