William
Stanley
Jan 17, 1957 — Oct 4, 2001
FARMINGDALE-William D. Stanley Sr., 44, died unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 5, 2001 at his home. He was born in Augusta, Jan. 17, 1957, the son of Fay and Lillian (Gagne) Stanley. A father, husband, brother, friend, ?Billy? was always there for anyone who needed him, whether that be for an ear, a shoulder or hand. To Sherry, Bill was a loving and supportive husband for 25 years. Together they had everything they ever dreamed of; 2 beautiful children, a wonderful new home and each other. To Samantha and Billy, ?Dad? was a generous and kind parent. He was always ready with words of praise, but also with words of wisdom. Because of him, they will be accomplished and strong young adults. To his many brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces, he was not only a relative but a dear friend. All who knew Bill will remember him as a joker, as well as a confident and reliable man. He was predeceased by his parents, and a sister, Joanne L. Shaw. He is survived by his wife Sherry L. Stanley, of Farmingdale; a daughter, Samantha L. Stanley and son, William D. Stanley II, both of Farmingdale; his brothers and sisters; Joseph A. Magee, of Thomaston, Anita L. Greene, of Chelsea, Mary E. Morton, of Augusta, Robert E. Magee, of Hallowell, John T.P. Magee Sr., of Pittston, Paul W. Magee Sr., and Marcella J. Roberts, both of Farmingdale, and Richard D. Stanley, of Augusta; his half brothers and sisters, Harland Stanley, Betsy Stanley, Theresa Stanley and Scott Stanley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, grandnieces and grandnephews. Visiting hours will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta, where a funeral service will be held 10:00 am Wednesday. Burial will be in North Street Cemetery, Farmingdale, Maine.
